‘Tis the season for trick-or-treating and the  St. Clair County Sheriff’s office wants to make sure everyone is safe during Thursday night’s festivities. Sheriff Tim Donnellon tells WPHM parents should equip their children with a flashlight and some sort of reflective material so they can be visible at night. He also says both costumed kids and the motoring public need to obey the rules of the road. Those include using sidewalks whenever possible, crossing at crosswalks, and staying off the roads. Donnellon says drivers need to be especially vigilant and to slow down in residential areas. He also encourages parents to  check candy before kids eat it, and to not consume any homemade items if you don’t know the source. Halloween is Thursday night.
