School bond project continues, albeit over budget

Improvements to Port Huron Area Schools so far coming in $1.8 million over budget, according to Superintendent Jamie Cain. He say the overages will be balanced out with savings in other areas. Cain says it’s not unusual for bids to differ from the actual cost of the project, due to changes in the costs for materials and labor. So far three buildings have been renovated with the bond project, with three more buildings on the to-do list in the new year. Cain says the bond project is moving along as scheduled. The Port Huron Area School District’s bond proposal was approved by voters last August.
