Shutout Of Playoffs

The Detroit Tigers got shutout for the 12th time this season, losing 1-0 to the Braves on Sunday in Atlanta.  The loss eliminated the Tigers from making the playoffs, and allowed Monday’s make up game with Cleveland to be cancelled, since it can have no effect on the standings.  Justin Verlander went seven strong innings, and struck out eight, but allowed a run in the first inning on two singles and a sac-fly, to take the loss.  Detroit will finish the season (86-75).
