Pavilion and graduation

The Sc4 board of trustees have accepted the Port Huron city council's recommendation to convey ownership of the McMorran Pavilion to the college Monday night. Sc4 President Kevin Pollock says the next step is the for the city and the college to begin negotiations on the specifics of the deal.
A few people spoke during the meeting representing minor hockey, hoping the college could find a way to allow hockey to continue at the Pavilion. In addition to the Pavilion decision the board also discussed student success and graduation rates during the meeting. Pete Lacey, Vice President of Student Services, gave a presentation on graduation rates at Sc4. The rate of students graduating in three years with a degree has increased from 16% in 2008 to 20% in 2012. The national average is 19.4% while the states average is 12.6%. Michigan ranks 43rd in the nation for graduation rates. Sc4 ranks 10th out of Michigan's 28 community colleges for graduation rates.
