The last State of the Union Address for President Obama was this month. And Michigan's U.S. Rep Candice Miller attended the address. Miller noted that each and every Presidential Address is historic, and that she was blessed to be involved in fourteen of them. This was the last State of the Union address for Miller while being in office. She also talked on the Paul Miller Morning Show about some bills she wants to have passed in her final year in office, including the Asian Karp Legislation to stop invasive species from entering the Great Lakes. Invasive species pose a grave threat to the Great Lakes ecosystem and the Defending Our Great Lakes Act will allow federal agencies to take immediate actions to stop the invasive species. The Act gives the Army Corps of Engineers authority to take near-term and long-term actions to prevent the spread of invasive species at a critical control point near the western end of the Chicago Area Waterway System, the Brandon Road Lock and Dam. Miller also wants to try and get another Ice Breaker for the coast guard which she claims, badly need it's.
