An event last night at DTE Energy’s gas-fired power plant in East China Township resulted in residents witnessing a large amount of steam and hearing a loud noise. It happened Wednesday evening at the Blue Water Energy Center when the utility needed to restart one of the plant’s turbines. DTE tells WPHM that there was an abnormal release of steam as a result of the restart, and apologizes for any inconvenience from the event. The utility adds that there was no safety concern for nearby residents or employees at the plant, and that the Blue Water Energy Center is running as expected.
