A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in St. Clair County’s Columbus Township. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, it happened shortly before 8pm near the Pinewood on the Lakes community on Gratiot Road. An 18 year old Columbus Township man had been on foot along Gratiot when he was struck by the driver of an SUV. The man on foot was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not injured. Sheriff’s deputies say alcohol and speed are not believed to be contributing factors in the crash. The names of those involved have not been released and the incident remains under investigation.
