A Macomb County man is recovering after being struck by lightning yesterday afternoon in St. Clair County’s Lynn Township. The incident happened around 2pm Sunday in the 5800 block of Capac Road. Two men, a 58 year old from Clinton Township and a 62 year old from Warren, were gathering firewood in an open area when lightning struck the 58 year old. He was taken by Tri-Hospital EMS to a Marlette area hospital before being transferred to a medical center in Flint with burns and other critical injuries. The other man was treated at the scene for only minor injuries related to the incident. Tri Hospital EMS, Brockway Township Fire Department, and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the rescue. Deputies report having seen isolated thunderstorms in the area at the time of the lightning strike.
