A major street construction project in Downtown Port Huron is coming to an end. Contractors from Boddy Construction are putting the finishing touches on Michigan and Quay Streets after several months of construction. According to City Manager James Freed, the project is finishing about a month ahead of schedule and could be open to traffic as soon as Saturday. Freed says once Michigan and Quay is complete, the city will be turning their attention to another nearby street in need of some repairs. McMorran Boulevard, between Huron Avenue and the Municipal Office Center is schedule to be rebuilt next year. Included is the replacing of a nearly 100-year old water main as well as upgraded crosswalks. As a part of the project, the city will remove the traffic light at the intersection of Michigan and McMorran as well.
