Dredging of the entrance to the Black River Canal in Port Huron has begun. According to the Port Huron Department of Public Works, contractors will be removing sand that has built up in the canal and depositing it at Holland beach. The city says trucks will be shuttling sand from the canal to the beach and that there will be intermittent stop and go traffic along Gratiot Avenue to LaSalle Boulevard and Conger Street to Holland Avenue. Residents are urged not to park on the side of the streets in those areas starting Monday and running through the end of the month. Dredging will be preformed by Boddy Construction, costing about $49,000.
