Michigan State President Lou Anna Simon has resigned from her post. She’s stepping down in the wake of a scandal involving Larry Nassar, who worked at MSU as a medical doctor and as a team U.S.A. Gymnastics doctor. Nassar was sentenced Wednesday to 40 to 175 years in prison for sexually assaulting young girls and women under the guise of medical treatment for nearly two decades. Many of the victims accused the school of mishandling prior complaints about Nassar. Now, M-S-U will search for Simon’s successor. Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick says those being considered include three former governors, Jim Blanchard, Jennifer Granholm, and John Engler. Simon had been MSU president since 2005.
