SEMCOG, an organization that brings together governments in seven different counties, has launched a Water Resources Task force. The goal of the task force is to update policies and strategies addressing water quality, as well as the 1999 Water Quality Management Plan for Southeast Michigan. Topics covered by the Task Force will include water and sewer infrastructure, storm runoff, the protection and restoration of habitat, invasive species, recreation, and the blue economy. The task force’s first meeting is scheduled for next month. Several blue water area governmental units are a part of the SEMCOG organization.
