The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal one-car-one-occupant accident that occurred late Thursday night along Wildcat road in Worth Township. Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies say the first responding units found a vehicle that had overturned and struck a tree. 77 year old Gerald Nichiow of Croswell was pronounced dead at the hospital. Officials believe the operator lost control of the vehicle and it went onto the shoulder, then back onto the road and then off the roadway where it rolled multiple times before striking a tree and coming to rest on the roof of the car. The accident remains under investigation.
