According to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office a 27 year old Emmett Twp. man has been hospitalized after shooting himself following a domestic dispute with his father. The man confronted his father with a shotgun at about 5:00pm Wednesday in the 400 block of Emmett Road. During the incident the man physically assaulted his father and left the property. He later returned and barricaded himself in barn on the property. Officers setup a perimeter and began negotiations, attempting to get the suspect to come out. After about 4 hours two shots were heard from the barn. Upon entering the barn Police discovered that the man had shot himself. He was transferred to McLaren Port Huron Hospital, and then to Detroit Receiving Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The incident remains under investigation. The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Yale Police Department and the Michigan State Police.
