The Detroit Red Wings opened the pre-season on Tuesday night losing in overtime 5-4 at Chicago. Detroit was down by three in the third period, but rallied to force the OT. Anthony Mantha, Riley Sheahan, Temmu Pulkkinen, and Luke Glendening had goals. The teams rematch on Wednesday night in Detroit.
