A recap of housing projects over the past several years was one of the highlights of last night's Port Huron City Council meeting. City Planning Director Kim Harmer says with continued funding she sees hope for additional areas of the city in need of residential housing improvements. The programs have allowed breaks for first time homeowners, have provided repairs for senior citizens, and have given countless gallons of paint out for improving local neighborhoods. In other business last night the council approved a series of purchases totaling about a half million dollars for repairs and replacements at the waste water treatment plant, and water filtration facility. Also purchased were a pair of new police cars and a self loader dump truck. Council also set the date of September 28th as a public hearing for a tax incentive vote for 802 Military Street which is considered one of the final steps needed in getting a City Flats Hotel at the former Michigan National Bank building.
