Two East China Township sisters stole a pair of cars and broke into several others late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. That's according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department which reports they were caught after crashing one of the cars. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, the girls, ages 16 and 14 snuck out of their home in the late evening hours Saturday night. They went into the city of St. Clair, where they stole their first vehicle in the area of Pine Shores Golf Course. The pair drove the vehicle to the Marine City area and eventually ran out of gas. They then stole another car from residence on Starville Road around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The 16 year old driver lost control of that vehicle, going into a ditch and striking a tree. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash site. The girls walked away prior to deputies arrival and were located by Tri-Hospital EMS near the first vehicle they took. They were transported to St. John’s River District Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and were taken into custody by Sheriff Deputies.
