Motorcycle crash with police leaves one in critical condition over Memorial weekend

The incident happened around 10 o’clock Friday night. Imlay City Police were assisting in a separate vehicle crash on M-53, north of Newark Road in Imlay City. When a 27-year-old man riding a 2009 Harley Davidson ran into a stopped patrol car. Area roads were closed over two and a half hours for rescue and investigation.  Emergency lights were reportedly in use and the police car was empty at the time of the collision. The motorcyclist, who is from Pigeon, Michigan, was taken to McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital with severe injuries and remains in critical but stable condition.

Lapeer County Sheriff Deputies are still investigating. It’s not known yet if excessive speed or alcohol played a role in the collision.
