Sanilac County Sheriff Gary Binecki announced Friday, the promotions Nate Smith and Matthew Armstrong. Sgt. Smith has been assigned to the Detective Sergeant's position in the Detective Bureau. Det/Sgt. Smith has previously held numerous positions within the Sheriff's Office including; Drug Task Force Investigator, Marine Division Supervisor, K-9 Handler and Supervisor, Field Training Supervisor and Evidence Technician. Armstrong, a 2002 graduate of Sandusky High School, has held several positions within the Sheriff's Office, such as; Marine Deputy, Field Training Officer, Accident Reconstructionists and D.A.R.E. Instructor. Sheriff Binecki says Det/Sgt. Smith's new assignment is sure to offer him new opportunities and challenges, and that he looks forward to Sgt. Armstrong's addition to the Command Team.
