A fatal car accident occurred on M-53 near Bay Forestville Rd. in Greenleaf Township. A Jeep being driven by a 61 year-old female from Madison Heights, was traveling southbound when she lost control and went into oncoming traffic. The Jeep struck a Pontiac G6 sedan with four occupants. A 65 year-old female passenger in the sedan from Ubly was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three occupants of the sedan were taken to Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe for treatment. Both occupants of the jeep were transported to Cass Hills and Dales Hospital where they were treated for their injuries. It is believed that icy roads were a contributing factor in the crash.
