In preparation for flu season, last week the St. Clair County Health Department began offering flu vaccines at their main offices located at 3415 28th street in Port Huron. Vaccines will be available on a walk-in basis every Monday from 10am to 6pm and Wednesdays, 8am until 4pm. Besides the flu shot and the popular flu mist; which the health department is out of, they also will be offering a high dose flu vaccine for those 65 years of age or older. For those 10-21 years of age, vaccines will be available at the Teen Health Center located at 2215 Court Street, on the campus of Port Huron High School. Margaret Sturgis,Nursing Supervisor at the Health Department, tells us the cost if you are uninsured will be around $30 to $55 depending on the type of flu vaccine. Sturgis noted that annually almost 1,000 people receive flu vaccines at the health department.
