Introducing 3D mammograms

16831089

Beginning on October 12th McLaren Hospital in Port Huron will be the first in the Blue Water Area to offer three-dimensional mammograms. The hospital will be offering the 3d mammograms at it's Woman’s Wellness Place located on the first floor near the south entrance. The new technology works by capturing multiple images of the breast from several angles allowing radiologists to view masses an distortions associated with cancers and precancerous cells significantly more clearly. The new process will take a few seconds longer though, but will not add any more compression. The 1.7 million project also included renovations to the Woman’s Wellness Place, as well as three upgraded 2D mammography units. Further information can be found by going online to the hospital's website at: mclaren.org/porthuron or by calling the Woman’s Wellness Place at 810-985-2663.
