A Texas based developer is seeking to revitalize the Harrington Hotel in Downtown Port Huron. After falling into disrepair and into the hands of a court-appointed receiver, the Harrington was purchased by Global Integrity Investments of McKinney, Texas this past May.

“Where others walked away, where others just said it’s too much, in too bad of shape… there’s a $3.5 million lien on it… we never said that.” said Toby Potter, President CEO of Global Integrity Investments. “We’re going to have to create the whole genera, and that’s what our whole plan is, bring it back to the 1896 era.”

The Harrington had been a hotel until the 1980s when it was converted to senior apartments and closed in 2017. It was then bought by California Developer Jeff Katofsky who had also purchased the St. Clair Inn and planned to renovate it to an upscale hotel. However, work ceased in early 2020 amidst the developer’s financial and legal troubles. . Built in 1896, the building is listed on the national register of historic places.
