A former Port Huron Restaurant is in the process of being purchased by the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. The Atrium Cafe on Military Street will soon be home to a new community kitchen, designed to give kitchen space to new and emerging food entrepreneurs. Daysha Woodley will manage the facility for the Community Foundation and tells our Paul Miller the goal is to give access to those who normally wouldn’t be able to afford a licensed commercial kitchen.

“I’m excited about this project because I know firsthand the need of the community kitchens here in our area,” said Woodley in a statement provided to WPHM. “So to be a part of bringing this all together and providing a place for up and coming entrepreneurs to utilize is an absolute joy.

Woodley described the project as an “Air B-N-B”  for kitchens, with the ability to rent the space out by the hour or by the day by using a website called thefoodcorridor.com. Additional financial support for the purchase of the Atrium Cafe by the Community Foundation will come from the Momentum Fund, DTE Energy, and the James C. Acheson Foundation.
