Search for person in St. Clair River called off

Rescue crews have called off a search for a person believed to have jumped into the St. Clair River from the Thomas Edison Parkway in Port Huron. The report was made from an eyewitness shortly before 5pm Monday who stated that the individual went into the water but did not return. According to Dale Minard of the Port Huron Fire Department, divers were in the river for about an hour yesterday searching the area the person is believed to have jumped in at. No evidence that someone had been in the water was found and the search was called off yesterday evening.

Rescue crews have responded to an area of the St. Clair River south of the Blue Water Bridge. Police on scene told WPHM there was a report from a witness who stated they saw someone in the water around 5pm Monday who did not resurface. Members of the St. Clair County Dive Team, Port Huron Police and Port Huron Fire Departments have all reported to the Thomas Edison Parkway to assist in the search. We’ll have more information when it becomes available.
