With the Pfizer vaccine now approved for use by teenagers, the St. Clair County Health Department is adding more vaccine clinics for those age 12 and over. Dr. Annette Mercatante says there will be a clinic Thursday  from 9am to 7pm at the Knight Club  in Marysville, in which the Pfizer vaccine will be used. Youth ages 12 to 15 must have a parent or guardian present. Those 16 and 17 can receive the vaccine if they have a signed parental consent form.  The single shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine will also be available today for those over the age of 18 at the same time and location.

Other walk in vaccine opportunities for adults will take place Friday from Noon to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm the Harvey Reinvestment Center in Port Huron. Although approved only for emergency use, Dr. Mercatante says that should not stop teens from receiving the vaccine as it is still safe and effective. “The (emergency authorization) does not cut corners, it speeds things up,” said Mercatante. “All the clinical trials are still done, all the safety and efficacy reviews are the same, but everything is done in an urgent way.”
