You’ll soon be required to press a few more digits when placing a phone call in four Michigan area codes. As part of the activation of a new three-digit dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, the Federal Communications Commission has ordered telecommunications companies to initiate 10 digit dialing for all phone calls made in the 810, 989, 616, and 906 area codes. Starting April 24th telephone uses should start using the area code when even making local telephone calls in order to prepare for the switchover which will happen in July of next year.
