10th District Congresswoman Lisa McClain says she condemns the violence and vandalism that was on display in Washington, DC Wednesday. The Republican from Macomb County stated that yesterday was an, “Atrocious day for Democracy,” and thanked the law enforcement officers who responded to the situation. On Wednesday, senators and representatives began the process of certifying each state’s electoral votes from the 2020 presidential election when chaos erupted. Pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol, over 50 were arrested, and one woman was shot. Earlier this week, McClain stated that she had, “Grave concerns that our process was not faithfully upheld” during the 2020 presidential election. The freshmen congresswoman succeeded Paul Mitchell who did not seek another term in office and left the republican party recently over the election controversy.
