Statewide gas prices decreased a few pennies in Michigan compared to last week. That according to the latest gas price survey by AAA of Michigan. Drivers are now paying on average $2.17 a gallon for regular unleaded, about three cents less than last week’s average. That is also about 17 cents more than this time last month and about 72 cents less than this time last year. The cheapest fuel remains in the northern Lower Peninsula including Traverse City, and the most expensive fuel is once again in the Marquette area of the UP. Locally, Lapeer County pumps are asking about $2.10 on average for a gallon of regular unleaded, while St. Clair and Sanilac pumps are slightly higher, around the $2.17 mark for a gallon of gas.
