Stay home order extended as Whitmer lifts some restrictions

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has extended the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order until May 28th. The order says residents should not leave their homes except to run critical errands, to engage in safe outdoor activities, or to go to specified jobs. The Governor also announcing Thursday that manufacturing, including automakers, can resume work next week.

“This is good news for our state, our businesses, and our working families,” said Governor Whitmer. “We’re not out of the woods yet, but this is an important step forward on our MI Safe Start plan to re-engage our economy safely and responsibly.”

Manufacturing facilities must adopt measures to protect workers from the spread of the virus in order to resume activity Monday. Some of those safety measures will include daily screening, temperature checks, and suspension of all non-essential facility visitors.

The Governor also announced that all businesses in the state must require masks to be worn when workers cannot consistently maintain six feet of separation. Manufacturers will need to train workers on how the virus is transmitted as well s its signs and symptoms.
