Port Huron is once again hoping to be called “Hockeyville USA”. The annual contest, sponsored by Kraft foods, could result in $150,000 dollars for arena improvements and the chance to host a NHL preseason game. Rob Churchill, manager of McMorran Arena, says the public’s help is needed. Nominations are now being accepted on Kraft Hockeyville’s website, and Churchill tells WPHM the more nominations, the better the chance of Port Huron being a finalist. After the nomination period closes at the end of the month, the top four arenas will be announced. The winning city will be selected by a online vote next month. Last year, the title of “Hockeyville USA” was awarded to The Calumet Colosseum in the Upper Peninsula. To nominate McMorran Arena, visit www.krafthockeyville.com.
