Man dies after car plunges into St. Clair River

A man has died after his car crashed into the icy St. Clair River early Tuesday morning. The Marysville Police Department says a vehicle is believed to have entered the river near River and Cuttle Roads around 6:30am Tuesday. Assistant Director of Public Safety Ron Buckmaster says the initial call came in from a nearby resident. “A neighbor heard a vehicle go through he guardrail,” Buckmaster told WPHM. “One of our officers was close by… he responded to that  location at that point in time but the vehicle was already in the river and sinking.” The unknown man’s body was pulled from the river by the St. Clair County dive team around 9am Tuesday morning. Rescue efforts were hampered by due to the amount of ice flowing in the river. The deceased was taken to the St. Clair County Medical Examiner’s office for identification.
