Authorities say two men going house-to-house in Port Huron Township Thursday were engineers with DTE Energy. Sheriff Tim Donnellon says the sheriff’s office received multiple phone calls yesterday regarding the two individuals. Residents called to check with the utility to see whether or not the two men were taking meter readings. The Sheriff’s office says there was a failure in communication with the utility, who initially stated they did not have employees in the area. It was later determined that the two men were in fact workers with DTE Energy and were gathering serial numbers from electrical meters. DTE says they will be asking their employees to have more visible identification in the future.
