After years of anticipation, construction on the historic St. Clair Inn in St. Clair is about to cross the finish line. Owner Jeff Katofsky gave local media a tour of the property yesterday, saying a portion of the site will be ready for a private event next weekend. The 109 room hotel features an in ground pool, a half dozen bars, a ballroom, and three cottages available for rental. Admittedly, Katofsky says some of the rooms in the original section of the building are small. He tells WPHM that shouldn’t detract from the experience. “If you’re coming here for a weekend, for an event, and you  hang out in your room…  you’re not getting the right experience,” said Katofsky. He referenced the hotel’s multiple amenities and other sites to visit in the surrounding community. St. Clair Mayor Bill Cedar says the city has already seen the positive effects of Katofky’s project. He tells WPHM the project has surpassed his expectations. “Even when these guys (Katofsky) told me they were going to do a great job up there, this has passed that… this is beautiful.” said Cedar. Katofsky says they are not currently taking reservations for the site, as that will be up to Marriott who’s Tribute brand is attached to the hotel. He says that will likely come later in November or early December.
