A building that was once used to teach college courses will now be the home to early childhood programs. The former Baker College campus in Port Huron is in the process of being transformed into head-start classes by the Blue Water Community Action Agency, who purchased the site last year. Executive Director Melinda Johnson says the non- profit used to have classes at various churches and schools across the region, and that the new building will consolidate all those programs under one roof. Johnson expects classrooms to be ready next week for the first day of school. A ribbon cutting for the Lapeer Road site was held yesterday. The Blue Water Community Action Agency focuses on helping low income families in the St. Clair County area by providing Early childhood education, health and nutrition, and emergency assistance services.
