RadioFirst owner Robert Liggett passes

Longtime Michigan entrepreneur and radio station owner Robert G. Liggett, Jr. has passed away. Liggett was the owner and operator of Liggett Broadcast Group for over 30 years, at one point owning dozens of radio stations across the state and across the nation. He was also owner of the Grosse Pointe News, Big Boy Restaurants International, and Speed Connect wireless internet. Liggett was honored with the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999. He purchased Port Huron radio stations WHLS, WSAQ, WBTI, WHLX, and WPHM in 2000 and has operated them for the past two decades. Robert Liggett passed away this past Friday at the age of 76.
