Michigan gas prices rose to a new 2019 high last week. According to AAA of Michigan, the current statewide average daily gas price is $2.43 a gallon. That’s 6-cents more than a week ago but still 7-cents a gallon less than this time last year. Across the state, the highest prices can be found in the Jackson area, while the lowest are in Traverse City. The auto club says rising crude oil prices, as well as refineries switching to a more expensive summer blend of gasoline, is reason for the recent increases a the pump. Locally, pumps in St. Clair County are asking $2.44 on average for a gallon of regular unleaded.
