The Community Foundation of St. Clair County will be putting more effort and dollars towards helping residents with education and career placement, that according to an updated three year strategic plan. Announced earlier this week on WPHM, the community foundation has named economic growth and career success as their two major focus areas moving forward. Board chairman Mike Cansfield says the foundation has removed healthy lifestyles from their list of focus areas, but adds they will still be working towards regional parks and recreation goals. The St. Clair County Community Foundation recently received a $100,000 grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Junior Foundation to fund the building of the Great Lakes to Lake Trail in the local area, which would start in Port Huron and end in South Haven.  Cansfield also says the foundation’s “Complete Your Degree” and “Reverse Scholarship” programs which incentives graduates to come back to the St. Clair County area have been a great success. He adds the complete your degree program recently added two new endowment funds totaling $100,000.
