Port Huron city officials say weather is to blame for delayed leaf pickup across the city. Mayor Pauline Repp says yard waste crews from Emterra Environmental have been running behind schedule. Repp says the cold and wet weather has hampered the removal of leaves and other yard waste. “It has slowed down the whole process,” says Repp. “It’s the first time they’re doing this too, so they’re trying to get used to a pattern.” The mayor urges residents who may have issues with yard waste, recycling, and trash removal to call the city’s Department of Public Works at 984-9730 or Emterra Environmental at 877-609-6753. The Flint based waste hauler took over the city’s trash removal contract for $9 million in July after five years of Marcotte Disposal.
