Former Detroit Lions Quarterback Scott Mitchell gave a keynote address yesterday afternoon at the annual Support A Scout Luncheon held at the Blue Water Convention Center. Mitchell shared some inspirational stories  about his early NFL career and is an Eagle Scout himself. Members of the local community also got an update yesterday on the progress of integrating females into the Boy Scout program. Gary Gilger is Chief Operating Officer of the Michigan Crossroads Council of the BSA and tells WPHM one of the first scouting groups to welcome girls into the program is right here in the local area. The Cub Scout pack is located in Croswell and already has 15 girls registered in the program. Gilger says girls will be welcomed into the elementary-aged Cub Scout program this fall and into the newly named middle and high school program called “Scouts, BSA” next year.
