Port Huron has a new Chief of Police. As of yesterday, Joseph Platzer has taken the reigns of the Port Huron Police Department. Platzer was promoted earlier this year upon the retirement of Jeff Baker, with Platzer telling WPHM’s Paul Miller he’s been with the Police Department for thirty years. Port Huron City Manager James Freed tapped Platzer to be Port Huron’s next Chief of Police at a press conference in April. Baker has since accepted a Chief of Police position with the City of Auburn Hills. Also retiring this month is Fire Chief Dan Mainguy, with Battalion Chief Corey Nicholson being named his successor. A change of command ceremony will be held by the Port Huron Fire Department later this month.
