Governor Rick Snyder gave a nod to Port Huron area students Thursday at the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Mackinac Policy Conference keynote address. Snyder, addressing the conference for the last time as governor, touted his “Marshall Plan for Talent” and mentioned a recent visit to Port Huron where he witnessed a 14 year old student who was writing software. Snyder says young people shouldn’t have to wait for college for vocational training, calling for more career-specific training in Michigan’s High Schools. Snyder also made a call for civility during his keynote address. Using a slogan he campaigned on eight years ago, Snyder says the state needs to continue “relentless positive action” no matter who will be the executive office next year.
