A state Senator from East Lansing wants to allow some bars in Michigan to stay open longer  on the weekends. Democratic Senator Curtis Hertel introduced a bill that would allow bars and restaurants in cities with more than 600,000 people stay open until4 a.m. on weekends and holidays. Detroit is the only city in Michigan with that many residents. The legislation pertains to only the central business district. Hertel says the extended hours would increase the city’s value for conventions.
