Areas of St. Clair and Sanilac Counties dealing with localized flooding after the Black River rose more than four feet in certain areas. Port Huron Fire Chief Dan Mainguy says some of those affected areas include portions of the City of Port Huron and Port Huron Township along the Black River north of I-94. Speaking to WPHM yesterday morning, Mainguy says members of the department of public works have filled and placed well over a thousand sand bags in certain areas of the city. The chief credits the ice-breaking efforts earlier this week in helping to get the river flowing, however, some ice jams still remain further upstream. Flooding has also been a problem along the Pine and Bell Rivers, with officials saying levels are now starting to recede.
