Governor Rick Snyder and legislative leaders have agreed to raise the personal income tax exemption to $4,900. The legislation will assure Michigan income taxpayers can claim a personal exemption for themselves and dependents. The $4,900 exemption is higher than the governor originally proposed and in the middle of the House and Senate proposals. Also, an agreement has been reached to forgive outstanding driver responsibility fees affecting some 300,000 drivers.
