The McMorran Civic Center could operate more like a commission and less like an independent authority under a proposed plan being discussed by Port Huron City Council at this week’s meeting. Mayor Pauline Repp says the theater and arena in downtown Port Huron would operate more like other city commissions that report to council and not as its own autonomous body. Repp speaking to WPHM yesterday says there is a consensus on Council is to have McMorran operate as a Commission instead of an Authority. The McMorran Authority was set to expire in December of this past year, it was renewed temporarily until council could work out a deal.
