Rick Currie arrested, valuables found

Former Port Huron Jeweler Rick Currie has been found near Jasper, Florida. The Port Huron Police say they were given information about Currie’s whereabouts on Friday February 2nd and then provided the information to the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force in Northern Florida. The information lead to a traffic stop along I-75 in Jasper Florida. A large amount of jewelry was found in his vehicle and Currie was taken into custody. Currie is being  held in the Hamilton County Jail in Florida awaiting extradition to Michigan. The suspected stolen jewelry will be turned over to the Port Huron Police Department and returned to victims who filed complaints. The extradition process could take up to 2 weeks, according to a press release from the Port Huron Police. Currie and the jewelry came up missing in early January after he was evicted from his Downtown Port Huron store. Police estimate over a quarter million dollars worth of valuables were reported missing after his eviction.
