Governor holds broadband round table in Port Huron

An executive order being signed by Governor Snyder here in Port Huron yesterday, dealing with access – or the lack there of – to broadband internet in many rural areas of the state, including right here in St. Clair County. Snyder, announcing the Michigan consortium of Advanced Networks yesterday at a round table discussion at the Blue Water Convention Center. One of the agencies that will help implement the order, which is charged with giving a plan to the Governor by August of this year, is the Michigan Public Service Commission which regulates local telephone and internet providers. Sally Talberg is the chair of the M.P.S.C. Other participants in the round table discussion included Dr. Kevin Miller from St. Clair County R.E.S.A. and Dr. Fritz Erickson, President of Northern Michigan University.
