Area children will be excited for a new project taking shape at lakeside Park. A splash pad has been added to the park and will be ready just in time for summer. Nancy Winzer, Director of Port Huron Parks and Recreation, says the splash pad has a unique local theme, with structures reminiscent of the Blue Water Bridge and Fort Gratiot Lighthouse. Renovations at the park also include a new concessions facility and new bathrooms as well. Winzer says the splash pad is done underneath, but they are waiting to put up the above ground features until after winter. Winzer also noted that along with the renovations taking place at lakeside, other parks have seen improvements as well with 4 area basketball courts have also been resurfaced in the city.
