An inmate on a work detail in Sanilac County Thursday afternoon stole a vehicle and took off in a chase that saw speeds in excess of 100-miles an hour. Officials had issued a police report on the incident and the vehicle was spotted by a Marlette Police Chief who gave case for some ten miles in various directions, eventually ending up in a Tuscola County field. The 20-year-old Marlette resident being pursued tried to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended. He now faces various charges that could lengthen his jail time.
